We have been discussing cost effective ways to get quality visitors. We stated that PPC provides some of the best quality visitors because in general people are actually looking for something when they do a keyword search and hopefully that something is what you are providing. If you are a little worried about trying PPC on the Google or Yahoo network there are some smaller secondary networks that use the keyword targeted PPC approach.

These networks offer very high quality keyword search traffic at generally much lower prices than the larger networks like Google. They do it by focusing on premium sites instead of the entire internet. You will bid for keyword searches on sites such BusinessWeek, USATODAY, ComputerWorld, PC Magazine, and many more. Your ads will only be displayed when specific keyword searches are performed. You choose the keywords and the price you are willing to pay.  You also write your ads just like Yahoo PPC but again these are smaller networks and therefore there is less competition and the price is much lower overall.

This week I wanted to talk about “quality of visitors”. Quality of visitors has to do with finding visitors that have potential to be interested in what you have to offer. On the internet the most targeted visitors are “keyword visitors” which usually come from search engines. When a person does a search using a search engine they usually type in some sort of keyword to find information on that subject. So if a person comes to your website from doing a keyword search using a search engine there is higher likelihood that they were searching for something in particular. So obviously the key is to match what they are searching for with what you are offering. If you can do this with consistency and you are selling something people are looking for you will make a lot of money.

So the idea of getting “quality visitors” is to get visitors that are interested in what you have to offer be it products, information or opportunities. Please note, that even when you start to improve the quality of your visitors you still need “lots of exposure”. You still need tons of visitors coming to view your website because it’s still advertising and it takes lots of impressions before people actually make the decision to buy. It is often said people need to see something they are interested in 20-30 times before they act on it when viewing items on the internet.

The first technique for getting quality visitors that I want to discuss is PPC or Pay Per Click. The reason PPC is considered “high” quality visitors is because people are usually looking for something when doing a search using a search engine. With PPC click using a search engine like Google or Yahoo you can pay for the visitors that are looking for “something”.

So the key is finding what key words or key word phrase are people likely to use that will lead to a sale or sign up on your site. Some companies specialize in finding those keywords and then helping you promote your when people are do searches for those key words. That is the keyword targeted visitors service that is provided by TrafficExcess. The service will not guarantee you sales but it will drive in high quality targeted visitors and that is what you want because that will lead to a greater number of sells.

Again consistency with type of advertising works best. You have to get your site in front of interested people consistently!

Previously we discussed getting quality visitors using PPC or Pay Per Click Advertising. We said that the reason PPC produces high quality visitors is that in general when people use search engines they are looking for “something”. This does not mean that you are guaranteed a sale. However, if they are searching for something and you provide what they need you are in a good position to make sale.

I mentioned the keyword visitors provided by Traffic Excess as one good example of high quality visitors. I want to explain how the service works and why it’s high quality. Here’s how it works. When a visitor types a keyword in a search engine the system shows the visitor the advertiser’s web page. Typically the cost for these keyword search engine visitors is a lot less than paying for these visitors using direct search PPC advertising such as Google or Yahoo.

For example, if you use the Traffic Excess system you will pay about 12 cents a visitor. So for 1000 visitors you will pay about $120. Now if you were to go to Google and try to bid on any keyword for 12 cents a click you would be lucky to even have your advertisement seen. Not to mention if you are using competitive keywords like “work from home” bids are very high just to get people to click on your advertisement. I have been in bids where that keyword phrase was $10 per click for the #1 spot. Now that is ridiculous, and that does not even guarantee a sale. It doesn’t matter to the big boys because they get your $10 and you may or may not get a sale. Even at .25 cents per click 1000 visitors would cost you $250. Why not take the $250 and get 2000 visitors instead of 1000?

In our experience, we have had better results using the lower cost service of Traffic Excess and here is the key, using it consistently. So we rarely by one small package and hope for results, but rather we buy keyword packages and let them run for 4 to 8 months to see a good return on our investment. Of course Google, Yahoo and MSN works but your expenses could easily overrun your results. With the Traffic Excess keyword program we more consistently see a return on our investment over time.

PPC is an excellent way to get some quality visitors but SEO or search engine optimization is the best way because you get quality visitors but it is much cheaper than paying per click. On our next post I will share with you some additional sources of excellent PPC advertising, but before I do that I want to show you how to get started with SEO.  It is important that you consider SEO in your strategy because if done right it will give you the greatest return on your money invested.
